ARMA Metro NYC 2018 Annual Conference: “GDPR Is Here Now. How Can Information Governance Help?”
March 5, 2018 - March 6, 2018
Tuesday, March 6
10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Eastern Standard Time
If your organization has global operations, you already know that the European Union’s Global Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) goes into effect May 25, 2018. But given recent data breaches, many state governments in the U.S. are now implementing rules and regulations similar to those of GDPR, which means that many more organizations now need to concern themselves with data privacy and security.
Matt McClelland and Jim Polka, consultants in Doculabs’ Information Security practice, will lead off the Privacy and Security Track of the ARMA Metro NYC 2018 Annual Conference. In their presentation, they will provide a quick overview of the major categories of GDPR compliance, including Breach Notification, Right to Erasure, Right of Access, and Data Portability–categories which are likely to form the foundation of many of these forthcoming state regulations. The presentation will then outline how effective information governance helps facilitate compliance with the regulations in each of these categories.
Both Matt and Jim have been working with Doculabs clients to help them identify and manage sensitive data in both structured and unstructured data repositories, thereby enabling these organizations reduce their data risk surface. They can speak to the challenges you face as you seek to align your Records and Information Management (RIM) and Information Governance (IG) functions with these stringent new requirements for information privacy and security.
