AIIM 1st Canadian Chapter Fall Meeting: “Sensitive Data Remediation: Are You Prepared?”
September 21, 2017 @ 7:00 am - 9:45 am
Date: Thursday, September 21, 2017
8:00 – 10:45 a.m. EDT
A recent Doculabs survey unearthed some surprising findings about how organizations approach data lifecycle management. Not surprisingly, not everyone is regularly purging their data, nor are the data management practices of many organizations compliant with legal standards.
These findings have clear implications for the management of sensitive data—and for overall risk management, which is the topic that Doculabs’ Rick Tucker and Jim Polka will address at AIIM First Canadian Chapter’s Fall 2017 meeting. The presentation will look at a series of recent Doculabs consulting engagements with organizations that have been implementing information governance, with the goal of improving information security (InfoSec).
Among the topics Rick and Jim will cover:
- How information management can help the InfoSec function to address data theft, the weakest link in the “kill chain”
- How InfoSec should partner with the Records Management, Legal, and Compliance functions to more effectively manage information (and thereby reduce risk)
- What a Defensible Disposition Playbook can do to help implement information governance
- Why organizations should have a policy for orphaned data
Get real-life examples of why information governance is a key part of risk management and security, along with recommendations for how you can improve information management and security at your own organization.
