Shared Services |

|
Shared services have evolved into a critical component of every organization. Shared services offer businesses a mechanism to quickly and efficiently enable a set of high capabilities to their clients in an efficient manner. Historically shared services, otherwise known as utility computing, have been limited to mature infrastructure such as telephone and network services and expanded to include technology areas like storage, e-mail, and financial and human resource management systems. Today, organizations are being forced to look at information management more holistically and information and content management are poised for enterprise adoption though a shared services infrastructure. Many companies still view ECM technologies as costly, difficult to deploy, and immeasurable. The technology available in the market is mature, yet obstacles exist from a lack of common vision of capabilities and how the organization can leverage technology to provide maximum benefit. To effectively reduce the costs associated with software, hardware, operations, and general business inefficiency ECM must be deployed as a shared service. Organizations will benefit from reduced cost of deployments and overall management of the systems, which can change the focus of IT from putting out fires improving adoption and utilization.
